Character Name: Full name: Bernadette Ann Layer. Most often called Layer.

Place of Origin: Her world is very much like that of the Marvel Universe’s X-Men, but without those characters. Layer comes from a point in time when Mutants are relatively new to the public, but the fear and the capture of them has begun.
Armored Description: Layer is human (mutant), and has no armor. She has no fighting experience.
Unarmored Description: Height, 5'10" Weight, 69.7 kg., Hair Color, Lavender, Eye Color, Red/Brown.
-History and Personality-
Relationship to Nonhumans [humans only]: Layer’s world has no sentient non-humans. She will not know how to take the idea, but if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, she will treat it as a duck. Layer also has experience in the ill-treatment that non-humans are given by humans, and is thus more accepting of people who are different.
Backstory: Layer’s mutant power is a form of empathy/telepathy that allows her to sense and assess physical and mental weakness in other people. Layer's power has only awakened recently, she has no idea how strong it will become. At this time, Layer can look at a person sense physical weakness. Eye contact with her target makes her reading of the weaknesses more accurate and more detailed. Physical contact gives her the best assessment. At this time, her secondary power, to 'read' mental weakness, only works with physical contact. The harder she tries to 'read' someone, the more strain she puts on herself.
With non-humans, this ability is dampened somewhat. As mechanicals also have weakness, Layer will be able to sense and identify it in them, but as they do not feel pain or think in the same way that humans do, their pain will not translate into pain in her own body.
In her own world, Layer was a college student, approached Professor Cain’s group of students for possible recruiting into the school. She declined and they left her alone. Despite growing suspicion of Mutants, she remained on her campus after finding another mutant in need; wanting to help him.
A few days after that while walking back to her dorm, someone came up behind her on campus, knocking her out with a blow to the head.
Approximately two months after that, she arrived in Reality Vanish when an experiment with transportation technology went awry. The agency who’d kidnapped her believed her power to be useless, and gave her over to other directions of scientific research.
